But the user interface & usability aspects of it is the real hidden gem....

Check out how it allows you to zoom into pictures with 2 fingers ("multi-touch") and how to view pictures in landscape/portrait modes... genius!

and typing with onscreen qwerty keyboard.... amazing..

that's gotta be the single most elegant way of handling typing on cell phones ...

no more ugly keyboards with pinky-sized keys....

Story about X'mas and getting a Wii, repost from RedFlagDeals forums..............

 

 

I went out Sunday morning to wait in line to buy a Nintendo wii. first Target handed out tickets, they had 15 of them, I was number 16 in line.

The second Target I went to had nearly 100 people waiting outside, and it obivously wans’t meant to be, so I went halfway across town, and at that target, there were 14 people in line when I got there. I was number 15. They stated that they had 15 of them, and would be handing out tickets shortly. A lady had gotten in line behind me, and convinced herself that not everone in line was actually going to buy one, and that some of them were likely just standing in line together. She called her husband, and told him to go ahead and bring their son up there, as she thought they were going to get one, and it would be a big surprise for him.

At this point I was thinking that this lady was crazy, and there was just no way she was gettign a ticket short of someone in line dying.

They start handing tickets out at about the same time her family got there. The van pulled up, at the same moment I was handed the last ticket. Then I saw the wheelchair lift.

She was there waiting in line to get her wheelchair bound son a Wii.

She was devasted when they handed me the last ticket, the look that only a parent knows all to well when they let down their child.

I turned and gave the boy my ticket, managed to get out a “Merry Christmas”, and quickly walked away.

They were crying when I left.

It felt good.

It sucks to know that I cannot win, but at the same time…..It felt like a win to me.

Needed to get this story out a bit. Take it for what you will, but It felt good to be a little bit of Santa this Christmas.

Do me a favor if ya can, help those who need it this christmas, even if it’s just a smile….IT really does make a difference.

this is the 3rd part of my trip review.. the end of the triology

 

this is the final chapter of the much anticipated review

the latest and greatest

i know that ppl been asking for it :P so here it is

 

SO

after SF and vegas... where else to go?

of course the fame of the west coast

L-muthafuckin-A

this place needs no introduction

this IS the west coast to many ppl

 

the adventure starts with L.A. Disney

 

 

read from online that this is the biggest disney in the world?

i thought the florida one was bigger?  who knows

but anyways still a full day of fun

haven't gone to the one in HK yet (whattup k-fu?)

but this one was so good that almost ANYTHING will pale in comparison

weather was perfect

we visited on a thursday so the lineups were not too bad

the day moved along definitely at a perfect pace... 10/10 in my books

 

guess which HK celebrity i'm impersonating?  har har har...

 

 

 

 

man this was fun

it was a star wars x disney live theatre

where a "jedi trainer" teaches kids to "use the Force"

teach them to use their lightsabres

and then at which point ... DARTH VADER!  would come out

and endless dueling ensues

man

i wish i was 4!  i would've kicked darth's ass with my superior skillz

definitely alot of fun to watch kids take this so seirously

they must've thought they were really protecting the universe

 

 

as nitetime falls

of course it's time for the disney parade

it was entertaining as usual

but craziest performance was these two girls dressed up as poker cards

who were doing backflips frontflips somersaults moonsaults everything in the air

they must've been trained athletes to pull off all that... or professional wrestlers

 

 

thaaaaaaaat's disney!

 

after a fantastic day at disney

nothing can stack up to it

so naturally the next day at universal studios was a bit of a disappointment

production values of everything was lower

there was less to do

plus each ride took forever to queue for ... zZZZzzzzzZZ

next stop was what i've been waiting for baby

a 45 minute flight to...

oh yeah.... u know what this is

the city of LIGHTS

the SIN city

the city that never SLEEPS

oh wait scratch that 3rd one

we here.... it's VEGAS baby

  

 

bellagio, caesar's palace, paris, bally's, wynns , TI ......

damn visited every single one in the 3 days we were here

walked my feet off basically... one end of the strip to the other

vegas is definitely sth else... no other place on earth like it

definitely one big hustle in this city.... casinos and hotels everywhere

slot machine sounds haunt u in ur sleep

topless revue dance shows everywhere

it's basically one big party that never ends

entertainment capital of the world this is it

lot's of bachelor / bachelorette parties everywhere on the prowl

and did i mention the topless shows? 

watched 2 of them back to back and damn... sexy and classy at the same time

one never gets tired of watching jubilees

 

vegas during the day is also nice... a breathe of fresh air

another amazing discovery/addiction picked up :

the guy who brought u such intellectual classics

such as "boys are stupid" and "golddigger"

actually has his own personal art gallery in vegas

i guess what the hell, why not? 

anything goes in this town anyways

$4000 USD a pop for his hand painted artwork... can u dig it?

 

 

ahhh yes the palm treess

So finally uploaded pix from my kali trip :D

went there for like .. 9 days or so? or 10 days...

needed a good break from all the hustlin at work... and it was good

destinations were: san fran -> vegas -> LA

in that order

and IMO in that order in terms of actual FUN too (ascending)

first dest. SAN FRAN

wasn't what i expected really

it was as cold as toronto

and the city was much older than i expected

alot of buildings were pretty ghetto everywhere

passed by parts of chinatown and it was like ANCIENT... where da fossils at?

took the subway to SF downtown for the fisherman's wharf and boat ride

from Milbrae to Powell St.....

which was fun but pretty expensive... $5 / person / ride

but i mean if u goto sanfran then u gotta take that right

it's like the rite of passage

did SF in the morning

then the afternoon we did the unthinkable

i mean... who goes to kali to visit ......the SILICON VALLEY

but that's what we did... with our trusty PT cruiser rentacar

but first stop prior to da valley was stanford

 

that's STANFORD man ... what a drastic 180 from UofT

it was like PURE kali styles... palm trees line the streets

weather in oct. was hot enough for outdoor volleyball

white boys look like they walked out of an abercrombie ad

totally diff from universities here

what an eye-opener

can only hope my son will goto stanford for his MBA in the future

 

silicon valley:

 

 

passed through stanford onto the silicon valley

aka nerdsville

comprised of small cities like mountain view, sunnyvale, cupertino, san jose

again diff from my expectations

i expected business parks and tech centres

but nope

it's every company for itself out here... no business centres ANYWHERE

only independent buildings

it's alot like markham if u ask me...

 

anyways tried to get into the GOOGLEplex... the HQ of where all ur porn searches go

but stopped by security guards.. hahahah

apparently google has a no visitor rule...   zzzZZZZZzzZZZ

so nuttin else to do but just a picture of the sign

 

 

another highlight was the Apple HQ in cupertino

the INFINITE LOOP drive

yes that's actually what Apple called their HQ...

if ur a programmer then u'll get it

one small step for mankind... one giant step for NERDS worldwide

 

 

 

anyways had dinner at a chinese plaza in cupertino

yes they have chinese plazas there

they're actually not half bad for the chinese population they have

and look what they got?
